Following a contentious five-hour Vista City Council meeting last night, sanctuary city policies were approved on a 3-2 vote with Mayor John Franklin and Councilman Jeff Fox dissenting.  Key points are: distributing “know your rights” information including a city-backed website; prohibiting federal law enforcement from conducting raids at non-public city-owned or city-controlled properties without a warrant; ensuring that future city contracts prohibit sharing sensitive information with immigration authorities unless required by law; and requiring the same involving city-collected information.  More than 100 people spoke at last night’s second reading of the measure.  Most were in favor. About half of Vista’s population is Hispanic/Latino and about one quarter were born outside of the U.S. https://www.newsbreak.com/abc-10-news-kgtv-563645/4355570072470-vista-city-council-approves-sanctuary-city-policies-after-contentious-meeting
